Preface: The Statutes of ICOMOS of 2014 was adopted by the 18th General Assembly of ICOMOS, Florence, Italy, 12 Nov., 2014.
The ICOMOS Statutes was adopted by the Constituent Assembly of ICOMOS in Warsaw (Poland) on 22 June 1965 and amended by the 5th General Assembly (Moscow, USSR) on 22 May 1978, and the 18th General Assembly (Florence, Italy) on 12 November 2014.
Evolution of the Statutes, the Ethical Commitment Statement and the Rules of Procedure
Archives of the amendment and revision processes of the ICOMOS Statutes, the Ethical Commitment Statement and the Rules of Procedure – in the run up to the 18th General Assembly (Florence 2014), the Annual General Assembly (Istanbul 2016), the Extraordinary General Assembly on the occasion of the 19th General Assembly (Delhi 2017).

| As foreshadowed at the Annual General Assembly 2015 in Fukuoka, the ICOMOS Board was intending to call an Extraordinary General Assembly in conjunction with the forthcoming Annual General Assembly taking place in Istanbul in October 2016, for the purpose of making some amendments to the ICOMOS Statutes. The formal notice of meeting was sent in June 2016. Following comments by ICOMOS Committees, the Board decided in August 2016 to postpone this Extraordinary General Assembly, and it will now be held immediately prior to the 19th Triennial General Assembly (Delhi 2017). | |

| The revised Statutes adopted in 2014 made the then current Rules of Procedure obsolete in many respects. Taking into account the resolution by the 2014 General Assembly, the Board is seeking to have an initial group of amended Rules of Procedure approved at the Annual General Assembly in Istanbul in October 2016, so that they can be in force for the next Triennial General Assembly in 2017. This first group includes the Rules of Procedure relating to General Assemblies, and those for bidding to host a General Assembly and for assessing the bids. | |

Rules of Procedure
The Rules of Procedure for the General Assembly are being revised, following the entry into force in January 2015 of the amended Statutes adopted by the 18th General Assembly (Florence 2014). Refer to the section on “Evolution” above for the proposed revised version.
Ethical Principles
These Ethical Principles were adopted by the 18th General Assembly (Florence, Italy) on 12 November 2014 to replace the Ethical Commitment Statement adopted by the 13th General Assembly (Madrid, Spain) in 2002.
Handbook
The Statutes, Ethical Commitment Statement, Rules of Procedures, Policy Papers, and practical information on programmes and statutory meetings are grouped in the ICOMOS Handbook. The Handbook is currently being revised taking into account the above mentioned revisions to the ICOMOS Statutes and Rules of Procedure.

- Established in 1965, ICOMOS, is an international non-governmental organization under French law (Law of 1 July 1901 relating to contract of association). ICOMOS is an associate partner of UNESCO.
- The Statutes of ICOMOS of 2014 is amended based on the Statutes of ICOMOS of 1987, which is adopted by the 5th General Assembly (Moscow, USSR) on 22 May 1978.
- The Ethical Principles were adopted by the 18th General Assembly to replace the Ethical Commitment Statement adopted by the 13th General Assembly (Madrid, Spain) in 2002.
